What are guilds in GameFi?
Friends, we decided to continue our series of tutorials. The topic of our today’s article wasn’t chosen by chance. Recently we announced our guild in Sorare. More information about our guild can be found here — t.me/OctopusCC_EN/222.
History of appearance
It’s no secret that the GameFi market has been booming lately. There are a lot of new projects that combine gameplay mechanics of computer games and play-to-earn model. This concept allows many users to combine business with pleasure, i.e. to earn money while playing.
If you are at least a little bit familiar with the culture of online games, you know that very often players create associations for the realization of common goals within the game. So called clans or guilds. Naturally, this form of association has found its place in GameFi as well, but like all elements of such projects, it has a rational economic basis.
Ways of organizing and goals of guilds
At the moment, there are so many projects on the GameFi market that differ from each other in their concept and in-game features. This is the main reason why the way guilds are organized and possibilities vary from project to project. Here are a few possible features of guilds in GameFi.
First, organization via DAO. Such blockchain-based forms are managed by their own tokens. Token holders can vote on various asset management issues and make a profit.
Second, a guild can have an administration. This includes a manager, treasurer, and any other positions that guild members see fit.
Third, some guilds earn on a rent-to-earn model. The idea is that the guild, having a lot of in-game assets under management, rents them out to users who want to earn from them. The lease conditions may be of any kind.
The goal of any guild is to earn profit. Secondary objectives are a desire to save time, a desire to communicate with other users and others.
Why join a guild?
The main reason for joining a guild is the desire to combine effort and capital within the project. Take Octopus Crypto Capital guild in Sorare for example. Combining the assets of the users is beneficial for all of them, because they will get more profits due to the greater number of instruments from the guild manager. It also saves a lot of time.
Conclusions
Guilds in blockchain games just started to appear, but already now it is clear that such form of association is very profitable for all market participants. For example, our “soccer” guild in Sorare gives an opportunity to earn both its members and Octopus Crypto Capital. The output is a win-win model.
In our opinion, guild development in GameFi will be a trend in 2022.
